Dr. Dispenzieri was born in New York City and received her Bachelor’s of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. She earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She completed an Internal Medicine residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. She remained at the Mayo Clinic where she currently is a Named Professor of Medicine and of Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Dispenzieri is immediate past Research Chair for the Division of Hematology. She has been an author or co-author on over six hundred manuscripts and book chapters in the field of plasma cell disorders, including multiple myeloma, immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis, POEMS syndrome and mass spectrometry techniques. She is past-president of the International Society of Amyloidosis and president elect for the International Kidney and Monoclonal Gammopathy Group.
